there is a battle raging between the music industry and the it's customers. The R.I.A.A. the music industry is seeing fit to stop music from being shared online. there has been a huge debate over the past 10 yrs about who is right and who is wrong.
A lot of people don't even have a clue who the R.I.A.A. is until they get caught sharing music on P2P clients like Kazaa, limewire, bareshare, Edonkey, Winmx, BitTorrent, Morpheus and Ares.
The problem is no one realizes that the music industry considers these P2P clients as outlaw software that encourages music and movie piracy. most people have no clue when they download their favorite songs from these P2P clients is that they are so called stealing these songs.
The R.I.A.A. says this is no different then walking into your local malls music stores and grabbing a CD off the shelf and stuffing it under your shirt and walking out of the store and not paying for it. it's stealing but in a different form.
It's true that you can get your favorite songs off of these P2P clients. as a matter of fact you have your choice of thousands of song titles on these networks and yes you don't have to pay a dime.
this is where the problem comes in. the bottom line in all reality it is stealing! you can NOT deny it as a fact. but the issue is not as plane and simple as that.
there are some who think all music should be free no matter what. that the artist really don't suffer from their fans using P2P to download their latest hits. a lot of these pro P2P users think that it's the R.I.A.A. that is ultimately screwing their artist by withholding huge amounts of cash from them and not giving them a fare cut of the their album sales and royalties and that using P2P to get there songs dose not harm their favorite artist but it gives the R.I.A.A. it's just desserts! many of them claim the R.I.A.A. has been screwing artists for years and that the R.A.A. is finally getting what they deserve!
The truth is the music industry is losing a lot of money! CD sales are at a all time low and the only truly successful MP3 store is Apples iTunes which takes in up 80% of all music sales on the whole Internet.
A lot of people hate the R.I.A.A. for many different reasons. one main reason for all this hate is the frivilious lawsuits they bring to their customers. mostly college kids who share their music with each other everyday.
And the R.I.A.A. has been known to try to sue underage kids, senior citizens, single moms and in some cases dead people. don't laugh! it's true!!! there was even a case where a deaf woman was served a suphena when the R.I.A.A. mistaknly nabbed her IP address as a file sharere. they claimed she was sharing Gangsta Rap on the Kazaa netowork. You can laugh at that one. it's something to laugh at! it's sad and true at the same time!
Some people think the R.I.A.A. is full of old timers who are dinosours that fear the new age of computers. some people think that if they got rid of the old dinsours and removed them from the recording lables offices and got some young blood in. they can then find a better and fair way of dealing with P2P. lets face it some of these old geezers don't even know how to open a Email! let alone know how the internet or P2P works.
You may ask how do they catch you?
the answer is so simple that it may even rattle your nerves.
as to date Downloading is not considered against the law. you can download all you want! no law or argument has been made about downloading. so far no lawsuits have been filed too downloaders as of yet.
They use a screen cap program to nab your computers IP address and then take another cap of your share folder and from that they form a case against you and then they serve your ISP for your Name and home address where you will get a suphena for a lawsuit. the more music in your share folder the more money you may lose in court! because by making a song available on a P2P network you are laible for damges to the R.I.A.A. they will cry to a judge they are losing thousands of dollars and they will try to make you pay for their loss. you can avoid a lot of this problem by simply going into the options section of your P2P client and choose not to share anything at all. as far as anyone knows there is no way to trace downloading as of yet. so remember to go to those options and opt out of sharing any files what so ever!
as for you people who Share your music on P2P? your in danger of being caught. in the courts now there are thousands of people being sued by the R.A.A. as i type this. the argument in courts is that if you make any music available on a P2P network you are laible for damages and could face losing a extremly expensive lawsuit where they will garnish your wages until the suit is paid off or your dead whatever comes first!!!
Most of these cases usually don't make it to court. the R.I.A.A. usually trys to make a deal with the infrigner for a X amount of money. which many condsier legalized Extortion and that the R.IA.A. are nothing but thugs in a suit!
In my opinion to be honest is i dont think may people realize that P2P is considered illegal by the music industry. although it's cool that you can get your favrite songs for free using the P2P programs i mentioned above. but a lot and i mean a lot of people don't even realize that what they are doing is wrong. they just do it. thay have no idea that it is stealing. becuase everyone is doing it. most of the people i talk too about this are shocked when i tell them about theR.I.A.A. and their fight against file sharing! which is why i call this blog Ignorance Is Not Bliss!
So i went to google and searched for Pro R.I.A.A. and Anti R.I.A.A. articles. Enjoy,
Pro R.I.A.A.
Anti R.I.A.A.
It is odd but i really could not find any Pro R.I.A.A. sites on google! Go Figure!!!
